Assistant Director, Recreational and Competition Instructor
Lissa began dancing back in 1988 at the age of three at Stage Door of Performing arts in Coon Rapids, MN. She spent from 1998 to her graduating year in 2003 as a part of their top performing lines, competing in top competitions across the nation. While traveling around the country winning high awards at both the regional and national levels, Lissa was able to experience many opportunities such as performing at the Metro dome and dancing on television. From 1999 to 2003, Lissa also participated on the Irondale Dance Team where she was honored to spend her senior year as the captain. From there she continued to dance throughout her time at college on both the St. Cloud State Dance Team along with transferring schools and becoming a member of the University of Wisconsin Stout Dance Team. She also spent her senior year at Stout helping to expand the UW-Stout Dance Ensemble, giving all dancers the opportunity to perform in many different styles and skill levels. After graduating in 2008 with a degree in Interior Decorating, Lissa has had the chance to continue her love for dance by teaching at her former studio, Stage Door of Performing Arts. From 2008-2011, she worked with kids of all ages on both the recreational and competitive level. Lissa joined the QC Family in the fall of 2011 teaching and choreographing with the younger recreational dancers, the teens class, Blaine park and rec classes, the premier line competition teams, and dancers participating in solos, duets, and trios.
In 2013, Lissa began to assist Barb with class management at the studio where she was in charge of the attendance for each class. In the summer of 2014, she took on the position of Administrative Assistant at QC where she assists Barb with not only the attendance and class management, but also organizing studio events such as the beginning of the year open house, student appreciation day, holidance, competition lock-in, watch weeks, spirit weeks, and schools out party at the end of the season. She is excited to bring her organization and planning skills to QC to show the families how much we appreciate them and how important it is to make QC more than just a dance studio.
In the beginning of 2015, Lissa also started a new venture as the head teacher for Creative Steps Music and Movement and Creative Steps Dance Company at Jack and Jill Preschools in St. Anthony and Blaine. These are dance classes held at the preschools for kids to attend during the day as a part of their weekly curriculum. In her free time she also loves spending time with her husband Ryan, son Logan, daughter Lainey, and their dog Dexter. Together, they enjoy going to the local YMCA, camping, spending time at the lake, and watching movies. She is very excited to continue her passion of dance by working with the QC kids, parents, and staff!!!
