What to look for in selecting a Dance School
- Look for a place that offers dance as FUN and foremost. A place where the dancers 1st introduction to dance is with creative movement and ‘play’ activity as they start their appreciation of dance as an art. A school that may have competition lines for those who want more. A school that allows children to be active at school or church and still be able to DANCE.
- The experience of the school is important. The long standing of a school that offers a quality dance education – community involvement – teachers with dance training/experience – teachers with ‘children’ experience and other assets that enhance the dance training, is ideal.
- The type of floor is an important part of a dance school – especially for the more advanced dancers. If they are working on intricate moves, it is essential that the floor have a cushion for their landing – to prevent injury and unnecessary wear to their body. Teachers appreciate this type of system as well.
- It would be convenient if the school had classes to accommodate your family of dancers on the same night. Look for a program that may in addition to dance class, have dance activities and opportunities for dancers to perform, to build self esteem – a place wear your dancer can meet new friends and create lasting memories.
