Genre Specific Classes

Genre specific classes allow each student a customizable schedule including only the dance styles they prefer.

The classes are available for students 4th grade through teens. Classes include options in jazz, tap and/ or lyrical. Choose 1, 2, 3 or more classes to complete your dance class preferences.

These classes meet once a week and encourage teamwork, social skills and most importantly fun. QC Classes for these ages increase range of motion, physical strength and cardiovascular health. Students will develop a sense of commitment, follow-through and the ability to accept constructive feedback.


All classes at QC are held in a positive environment for social interactions with other children and teachers. These classes help build self-confidence and pride in the dancer’s work.



Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. The style is usually danced at a faster pace than ballet but not as fast as jazz. Lyrical dance challenges dancers to use motion to interpret music and express emotion. A lyrical dancer’s movements attempt to show the meaning of the music. Lyrical jazz is a very passionate and emotional dance style.


A classic American dance style, Jazz dance is fun and suitable for all ages. Though a foundation in ballet is important, jazz encourages the dancer to embrace personal expression. Jazz dance typically uses upbeat music and is fast and fun.


Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion. It is in his way that the dancer also becomes a percussive musician. Tap dance is often characterized by syncopation and improvisation
